A session will normally take an hour. I aim to validate the issue you are experiencing by attentively listening and fully understanding the issue. I often use a variety of techniques to discuss historical trends, relationships and behaviour that you are wanting to change. I measure incremental improvements by using software that uses session rating scales (SRS) and outcome rating scales (ORS) to help examine the therapeutic relationship and positive change.
I use a variety of counselling styles or modalities including but not limited to: Client Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy as well as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mode Deactivation Therapy for anger management. Philosophically I consider myself a pluralistic counsellor. Because of this, I consider all aspects of your health and consult with other professionals in the community depending on what your needs are. I also consider your nutrition and level of fitness, taking a holistic approach to your mental health and well-being.
